Mandate for Ministry

mandateSeveral years ago Pastor John met with NFC leaders to formulate a mission statement. By the time the meeting was over we decided to drop the “mission statement” phrase and adopt a new phrase: MANDATE FOR MINISTRY. We selected the following Scripture for our model: (Col 1:28-29 NIV) "We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me."

The VISION of our MANDATE FOR MINISTRY includes three geographic areas.
1. We have a mandate to impact our immediate neighborhood.
2, We have a mandate to minister in areas just outside our neighborhood as the Lord brings families/individuals to NFC from the larger community.
3. We have a mandate to support Evangelical Friends Missions and their missionaries throughout the world.

The PURPOSE of our MANDATE FOR MINISTRY is threefold:
1. To faithfully proclaim the Gospel of our Lord
2. To train disciples who effectively represent Jesus
3. To consistently equip believers for ministries that will complement their spiritual gifts

The MISSION of our MANDATE FOR MINISTRY covers four essential areas.
1. To proclaim Him in our preaching
2. To reveal Him in our teaching
3. To exalt Him in our worship
4. To accompany Him in His ministry

The CONDUCT of our MANDATE FOR MINISTRY will consistently reflect His image as we learn to…
1. Love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength
2. Love each other as Christ loves us
3. Love the neighborhood with His love
4. Love the nations through prayer, financial giving, and by sending our own church family to serve in other nations.

The VALUES of our MANDATE FOR MINISTRY will include the following:
1. Devotion to study God’s Word
2. Dedication to pray for the church, the neighborhood, and world missions
3. Determination to live authentic Christian lifestyles
4. Diligence in meeting the crucial needs of those who live within the scope of our ministry.

The GOAL of our MANDATE FOR MINISTRY is to glorify our Lord Jesus in all we do.
