A PRAYER FOR YOU AS YOU VOTE TODAY

Dear Neighborhood Friends Church Family,

Today, as citizens and followers of Jesus, we have the privilege and responsibility of participating in an election. Voting is not only a civic duty; it’s also an opportunity to reflect God’s heart for justice, compassion, and unity in our communities.

The Apostle Paul reminds us that “there is no authority except that which God has established” (Romans 13:1). By casting our vote, we actively take part in shaping the leadership of our nation, contributing to the common good and lifting up values that honor God’s love and justice.

In Micah 6:8, we are encouraged “to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.” Voting allows us to pursue these values in our society, seeking leaders who reflect them and policies that support them. Additionally, Scripture urges us to “pray for all people” and for “all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Our participation today is part of this prayer, working toward a nation of peace, kindness, and integrity.

I also invite you to join me in praying over this election—for every candidate, every voter, and every outcome. May our choices today be guided by discernment, faith, and unity. I’ve attached a prayer to help center our hearts on God’s peace and purpose as we cast our votes.

Thank you for embracing this day with both civic responsibility and spiritual purpose. Let’s go forward together, encouraged and empowered by the love of Christ in all that we do.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Donnie

A PRAYER GUIDE

Heavenly Father,

As we approach this election, we come before You with grateful and hopeful hearts. We thank You for the gift of democracy and the ability to choose our leaders freely. We hold to Your Word, remembering that “there is no authority except that which God has established” (Romans 13:1), and we trust that You are sovereign over all things.

Lord, we pray for every candidate, voter, and election worker involved in this process. May those who run for office seek to serve with integrity, compassion, and humility, knowing that “to do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice” (Proverbs 21:3). Guide them to lead wisely and to act in ways that promote justice, unity, and the welfare of all people, “seeking first Your kingdom and Your righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).

For each voter, we ask for discernment. Help us to cast our votes thoughtfully, guided by a desire for good, peace, and prosperity in our communities. Where there are differences in opinions, may we approach each other with respect, “making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).

We pray for peace across our nation as results are tallied and announced. May we trust in Your sovereignty, remembering that “in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him” (Romans 8:28). Strengthen us to come together, and may our actions reflect Your love and compassion.

We entrust this election to Your care, Lord, and we pray for Your blessing on our nation, that we “may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:2).

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
