From Dust to Dawn: The Journey Toward Easter

There are moments in the life of a church where you can feel that God is doing something deeper than just a series of sermons. This Lent season has been one of those moments for us at Neighborhood Friends Church.

We began with a simple but grounding truth: we are dust.
Formed by God, dependent on His breath, and invited into a life shaped by His presence.

From there, we moved into the call to return to the Lord—not in shame, but in honesty. A reminder that repentance is not about earning our way back to God, but about coming home to a Father who is already full of mercy.

Then we leaned into what it means to hunger—to notice our desires, to recognize what we reach for, and to allow God to reshape our appetites so that He becomes enough.

And now, we arrive at the center of it all: the cross.

This Sunday, as we reflect on The Message of the Cross, we are reminded that the path to life doesn’t go around suffering—it goes through it. Jesus does not avoid the cross. He embraces it. And in doing so, He carries what we could not carry, redeems what we could not fix, and opens the door to forgiveness, freedom, and new life.

The cross is not the end of the story—but it is the turning point.

And as we move forward, we do so with anticipation. Because the story doesn’t stay in the grave.

Dawn is coming.
