From Dust to Dawn – Week 1

Remember You Are Dust
This Sunday we begin our Lenten journey with a powerful and freeing truth: “Remember you are dust.”
In Genesis 2:7, we see that we are formed from the dust of the earth and sustained by the very breath of God. Lent invites us to stop striving and start surrendering — to tell the truth about who we are: not self-made, not self-sustaining, but deeply loved and held by our Creator.
We’ll also be celebrating baptisms as a beautiful expression of surrender and new life in Christ. What a meaningful way to begin this season — not with performance, but with trust.
Let’s begin this journey together — from dust to dawn.

From Dust to Dawn – Week 2
Sunday, March 8, 2026
Guest Speaker: Rhonda Hinshaw
Return to the Lord
This Sunday in our From Dust to Dawn Lenten journey, we continue with the invitation found in Joel 2:12–13 and Psalm 51: “Return to the Lord your God.”
After a powerful start to Lent last week—when we celebrated seven baptisms and the reminder that we are dust held in God’s grace—we now turn toward the heart of repentance.
Too often repentance is misunderstood as shame, guilt, or religious performance. But Scripture reveals something far more beautiful: repentance is a return home.
Through the words of Joel and the prayer of David in Psalm 51, we discover that God is not asking for outward performance, but for honest hearts. Confession becomes a doorway to healing, and grace meets us not when we pretend, but when we tell the truth.
This week Rhonda Hinshaw will be sharing this message as we continue learning how the journey through dust leads us toward dawn.
Come ready for a meaningful time of reflection, prayer, and worship as we continue walking through Lent together.
Baptism – Sunday, March 15
Last Sunday was an incredible day in our church family as we celebrated seven baptisms during worship. It was a powerful reminder that God is continuing to transform lives in our community.
Because of the overwhelming response — and several more people who have expressed a desire to be baptized — we will be offering another opportunity for baptism on Sunday, March 15 during our worship service.
Baptism is a beautiful step of obedience and a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. It is an outward expression of an inward transformation — a testimony of new life in Him.
If you have placed your trust in Christ but have not yet been baptized, we invite you to prayerfully consider taking this next step.
If you have questions about baptism or would like to talk with a pastor, we would love to connect with you.
We look forward to celebrating together again as God continues to change lives.

A Word on Giving as We Look Toward 2026
Scripture reminds us:
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
— 2 Corinthians 9:7
Giving is not simply about meeting a budget—it is an act of worship and trust. Through our generosity, we participate in God’s work of forming disciples, caring for one another, serving our community, and proclaiming the gospel.
As we move into 2026, Neighborhood Friends Church continues to have real and ongoing needs: sustaining pastoral leadership, caring for our facilities, supporting outreach and missions, and investing in the next generation. We invite you to prayerfully consider how God may be calling you to partner financially in the life and mission of NFC.
Thank you for your faithfulness, your prayers, and your commitment to walking together as the body of Christ.
GIVE TO NEIGHBORHOOD
We have experienced a great year of giving in 2023 at Neighborhood. We wanted to thank you for your generosity and obedience to the Lord as you tithe and give gifts regularly to keep this ministry going and growing. Generosity is at the heart of our church community, and we believe in the power of giving to make a positive impact in the lives of those in our neighborhood and beyond. Your tithes and offering support our basic mission efforts of providing salary for our pastors and general building costs. In essence, our current giving is simply keeping our church going. Our desire for 2024 is to move beyond our baseline giving. We are praying we move beyond going forward in our finances to growing forward in our finances so our impact can even be greater.
Jesus speaks to this investment of giving and generosity:
Luke 6:38 (ESV): 38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
Join us as we look forward to 2024. Here’s to growing forward together.

NKIDS Ministry
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each Sunday, your child will learn similar concepts to what is being taught in our adult teaching. Our goal is to bring the message of Jesus to our kids at a level they can grasp and grow in. The lessons are fun and are taught by committed volunteers who serve Jesus by serving you and your children. We believe your children will love their time in NKids Church each Sunday and will beg you to bring them back!
LEARNING AT THEIR LEVEL
We believe that the gospel is for all ages, and that’s why we are so passionate about teaching kids how the story of Jesus is woven throughout the Bible and helping them understand at their level! In NKids, our Sunday experiences are filled with gospel-centered lessons, engaging times of worship, and fun activities that help them relate and apply the story in their lives.
FAMILY CONNECTION
The primary pastors of your kids’ faith aren’t the NKids volunteers—it’s you! Our goal in NKids is to resource and support families so that the rest of your week can be filled with conversations centered on Jesus and you can feel equipped to disciple your family to be deeply rooted in their faith and excited about Jesus!
BAPTISM & CHILD DEDICATION
Everyone at Neighborhood Friends has a next step in their spiritual journey, and for our NKids, here are two that God could be calling them to:
If your child has made a decision to follow Christ, begin a conversation about baptism with one of our NKids team members.
If you are interested in having your child dedicated, keep an eye out for our next Child Dedication service! In the meantime, fill out the sign up form below to get on the list for our next dedication gathering.
